Whilst the rest of the NFL rushed out and overpaid for free agents (yes you Miami) new Jets GM John Idzik's patient and methodical approach has seen the Jets acquire a mixture of youth and experience that will provide depth and competition to the depleted roster, all whilst maintaining an healthy outlook in regards to the difficult cap situation that Idzik inherited.
Whilst the current additions, emphasis the Jets change in their offensive strategy they also provide fresh hope and new potential hero's for the disheartened fan base to adore. The addition of Antwan Barnes is set to bring the lack luster pass rush of years gone by to life. Mike Goodson has the potential to be the steal of the free agency. With years spent in the shadows behind talented individuals he adds a edge to the running game with his speed and pass catching prowess out of the backfield. Willie Colon adds experience at the heart of the team. Whilst former Pro-Bowler David Garrard could prove to be stiff competition for Sanchez.
I for one like the additions made to roster by Idzik and I praise him for the work he's done so far, one thing that concerns me though.....is the current crop of fresh talent made of glass? David Garrard for instance has missed the last two season through injury. Mike Goodson has been has had his share of injury concerns. Willie Colon sat out the 2010 season with an Achilles injury and only featured in one game the following year. Antwan Barnes also found himself on the IR list at the back end of last season.
The Jets could potentially be just a few injuries to key players away from another losing season. Before you jump at me with the injuries can happen to anyone at any time and its all part of the game, it happened last year, I totally agree with you all on that front and I am in no way trying to criticize the moves as I actually like them this is just merely an observation of mine, it might be nothing, but it should be something your should keep in mind should the wheels fall of the clown cart midway through the season. The cold hard facts are that the recent additions have had injury issues and are more susceptible to injury than others (not everyone is super human like Adrian Peterson).
