Dixon Released, Practice Squad & Additions

Mike Tannenbaum had warned us that this weekend was going to be a mini draft, or as it looks now an un-drafting as several members of the 2012 draft have been thrown to the way side, along with the surprise release of veteran DE Marcus Dixon, in what looks to be a money saving move (reports suggest releasing Dixon saved the team $150,000). Tight end Dedrick Epps and safety Antonio Allen were also waived by the team.

The Jets wasted no time as they continue to evolve into the Miami Dolphins with the addition of nose tackle Isaako Aaitui and wide receiver Clyde Gates, (do we really need another NT?). Tight end Konrad Reuland who spent last season on 49ers practice squad, was also claimed from waivers.

The Jets have assigned seven members to their practice squad:

  • T Paul Cornick
  • LB Marcus Dowtin
  • DB Donnie Fletcher
  • WR Royce Pollard
  • LB Ricky Sapp
  • TE Hayden Smith
  • WR Jordan White

In other news the St Louis Rams claimed Terrance Ganaway off waivers. Whilst many of the moves have left a sour taste in the mouths of many a Jets fan, I feel I speak for many of us as I live in hope that all this chopping and changing is leading up to a dramatic swoop by the Jets front office.

On a personal note I would like to send my best wishes to Marcus Dixon as he was one of the first players to take an active interest in the site, which in turn lead to interview and ongoing dialogue, all on which I'm eternally grateful for. Good luck big guy.
