William Perlman The Star-LedgerAfter seven long months Jets fans finally got a taste of football as 'Jets Camp' swung into action on Thursday. Darrell Revis poured cold water on any hold out, as he was in attendance along side the rest of the Jets team in SUNY Cortland.
Not wanting a repeat of last seasons locker room fallout, Rex Ryan has drawn a line in the sand, by responding to Santonio Holmes' criticism of the two QB system.
"I brought Santonio in here to be a receiver, not to be the offensive coordinator, and that's the way it is. I love Santonio, but if I wanted to hire him as our offensive coordinator, we would've."
An unexpected battle at left guard ensued during day one of camp. Desperate to remove the 'bust label' and talked up over the off-season by the front office, Vlad found himself taking reps with the first team in a head to head battle with current starter Matt Slauson (who returns from off-season shoulder surgery). Sanchez put in a solid shift on day one of camp, with Tim Tebow drawing jeers from the crowd as he struggled to adjust to a new system. Stephen Hill impressed, despite being matched up against Revis.
LaRon Landry continued to respond to the criticism he'd received via twitter (placed on the PUP list) with an appearance in training on Saturday. A matter of days after singing the praises/potential of Ellis Lankster, he did not disappoint, in fact he stole the show breaking up several passes along with an interception. Aaron Maybin and Yeremiah Bell also impressed.
Once again Aaron Maybin's level of intensity was head and shoulders above the rest, as the defense came out on on top during day three of practice. Safety Antonio Allen impressed with a couple of interceptions. Good news when it comes to the Jets ground game with Joe McKnight and Bilal Powel (who I feel is on borrowed time) putting in an impressive shift. Revis sat out practice with a tight hamstring (expect media spin on this). Josh Baker sustained a broken nose.
One suprising note out of camp was Rex Ryan calling out Jeremey Kerley.
