Jets Sign RT Jeff Otah
/
Rewind you mind back a few months ago to those worrying sound bites that were coming out of the Jets front office in regards to Wayne Hunter being the guy to start at RT this upcoming season, then add to this the thought of Vladmir Duccasse, dueling it out with Hunter at camp, yes a worrying prospect.
With camp only a few days away, the Jets made the smart move by adding more depth and competition to the roster at RT, with the addition of former first round pick (Panthers) Jeff Otah for a seventh round conditional pick.
The 6ft 6" 340 lb Otah was the 19th overall pick of the 2008 draft by the Panthers. His career with the Panthers started off well, as he started 25 games during the first two years of his career. Performing stoutly in 2009, enabling both the Panthers RB's (DeAngelo Williams and Jonathon Stewart) to rush for over 1100 yards each (a first in NFL history). However he missed the entire 2010 season with an knee injury (left) and made only 4 starts during 2011. Its a big IF, but if healthy don't expect to see much of Hunter this year.
