Manning, Moss, Jacobs: No Thanks
/You'd be hard pressed these days to find an interview/news report within the NFL that doesn't mention the Jets. Possibly the most talked about 8-8 team in the history of the league.
As we delve deeper into the offseason it's clear we're still the forefront of everyones thoughts. Not a day has passed without a player being linked to The green and white of the Jets, it was flattering but has become rather annoying of late.
The few names that have been banded about as the latest Jet recruits have left me screaming several obscenities, and it's clear I'm not alone in this though process, Randy Moss, Brandon Jacobs and of course Peyton Manning... all together now.... NO THANKS!!
Why?... regular visitors to site already know my feelings on the pointless pursuit of Manning ( for those who haven't >> Manning Blog) add then to that for starters Randy Moss retired now not retired! I'm guessing Moss did what he always does when things aren't going his way he quits (so he quit retirement). Do we need another quitter in the debacle that is the Jets locker room NO....
Talking of the locker room, what is Brandon Jacobs thinking, he's hardly endured himself to the players after his foul mouthed rant with Head Coach Rex Ryan during the Jets defeat to the Giants "it's time to shut up, fat boy" (Probably good PR on his part if we look at the bigger picture, mentioning the Jets = more headlines etc). His contract is up for renewal.
Between them they add nearly a century (age wise) to the Jets roster, we don't need a quick fix, more drama or the Jets taking a gamble on the season, (which for my requiring nightmare is first play, Manning injured) we need some stability in the locker room, not more fuel adding to the media circus that currently surrounds the team.
I want the Jets to surprise me in the Draft and free agency, covering all our needs isn't going to be easy and it probably won't be to everyone's taste. (Wayne Hunter springs to mind) Wouldn't it be nice to quietly get into the play-offs before the hysteria started? Hey we can all dream can't we, bring out a bold prediction or two and several new tattoos show pieced on the first day of training camp.
